Nope, 1 int gives 1 magic attack and one magic defense. Nice try though ^/quote That has been outdated since Big Bang. There is no set ratio for xINT = xM.ATK but for.
Hi, i hopw somebody can help me with an issue, which is wondering me for some time now. I play a flicker strike marauder build and am using maces. Flicker strike is linked with Melee Physical Damage, Multistrike, added Fire damage, Melee Splash and weapon elemental damage ( see equipment below) and am running hatred aura + herald of fire Tooltip tells me that Flicker strike deals: 1216-1824 Cold 1813-2710 Fire 1-28 Lightning 2158-3226 Physical Considering these values, i thought increasing the elemental damage further could be a good idea. However when i equip an ring with + 20% increased elemental damage the values only change to 1251-1877 Cold (2.8% increase) 1876 - 2822 Fire ( 3% increase) ( the added fire damage from the ring was substracted manually from me) 1- 33 Lightning (17% increase) A same behaviour i could see when i skilled added fire damage with weapons for example.... BEsides the 7% added elemental on the quality added fire damage i dont have any + increased elemental damage on notes or equipment So my question is why does the % added elemental does only increase the Lightning and not increase the cold and the fire damage in a correct way? I readed many posts and helping sites but dint found any suggestions that elemental damage from auras or support skillgems cannot be increased with this stat.. Equipment: Ty you all in advance for any help :) Last edited by monto01 on Jan 13, 2015, 6:06:19 PM | Posted by monto01 on Jan 13, 2015, 6:04:07 PM |
It's not a big mystery, your fire and cold damage come from hatred, added fire and HoA. All those were converted from physical so are also affected by your increases to physical damage. Lightning damage wasn't converted so it's affected only by elemental damage increases. Ty for you fast response. However for me there are still some questions: Why does the skillgem 'Weapon Elemental Damage' boost my dps? ( does only the modifier 'more' work on converted elemental damage and not the modifier 'increased' and when yes why ?) And why does wiki says : 'Converted damage is affected by modifiers that apply to be both the original damage type it was converted from, and the new damage type that is was converted to. For example Fire Damage that is added by the Added Fire Damage gem will be affected by both increased Physical Damage modifiers and increased Fire Damage modifiers. Modifier 'more' is a multiplier so it doesn't stack with anything, it will always work the same, regardless of any other modifiers you have. Mods that say 'increased' stack with all other such mods to form a multiplier. So, if you got some elemental damage that was converted from physical and you got elemental increase (E), physical increase (P), elemental multiplier (ME) and physical multiplier (MP) that elemental damage will be calculated like this: D * (1 + E + P) * (1 + ME) * (1 + MP) If some part of your attack damage is fire converted from physical it will possess properties [attack, physical, fire] and be affected by any modifiers that target those specific damage types. Also, for a modifier to work, all of its conditions must be satisfied. If a modifier says it affects 'spell elemental damage' it will work on fireball which is [spell, fire], but not on ethereal knives which is [spell, physical] or detonate dead which deals [secondary, fire] damage. From that previous example, 'weapon elemental damage' modifier will affect [attack, physical, fire] only if it was inflicted with a weapon, and not if unarmed, as 'weapon' and 'unarmed' are subsets of 'attack', just like 'melee' and 'ranged'. Ty for your reply, so with this mechanic increased weapon elemental damage should work. However the question stays why it isnt shown correctly in the tooltip then. Is this a bug ? Last edited by monto01 on Jan 15, 2015, 10:23:21 PM | Posted by monto01 on Jan 15, 2015, 10:23:03 PM |
It works properly and is also displayed properly in tooltip, I already explained it. I guess it would probably be best to provide an example. Let's say you got 100 base physical damage of which 50% is converted to fire, you got 30% physical added as fire and you also got 20 lightning damage from your ring. That means your base damage is 50 physical 80 physical/fire 20 lightning Then let's say you got 60% increased physical damage, your damage will be: 50 * (1 + 0,6) = 80 physical 80 * (1 + 0,6) = 128 physical/fire 20 * (1 + 0) = 20 lightning And then you took 20% increased elemental damage, so it will be 50 * (1 + 0,6) = 80 physical 80 * (1 + 0,6 + 0,2) = 144 physical/fire 20 * (1 + 0,2) = 24 lightning If you compare before and after, you will see that you now deal 20% more lightning damage but only 12,5% more fire damage, that's because elemental damage increase is the only increase acting on lightning damage and converted fire damage is affected by physical increases too. Ahhhh, ty very much now its clear to me The problem is the D * (1 + E + P) part of the calculation, increased elemental damage does not have a big impact because i already have very much increased physical damage multiplier. Well, i really thank you for you patience explaining it to me :) cheers monto | Posted by monto01 on Jan 16, 2015, 7:53:04 AM |
No problem, this is actually a very common question, usually players want to know why Lava Lash or Ice Bite nodes boosted their dps by so little when using converter skills like molten strike.
